Tom Sandell
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer


Tom founded Sandell Asset Management in January 1998 and is the Chairman and CEO.

He has been involved in the securities industry since May 1986. Tom joined Bear Stearns in 1989 to establish the proprietary international risk arbitrage operation. When he left in 1997 he was a Senior Managing Director and co-head of the Risk Arbitrage department. Previously, Tom worked as a securities analyst for Atlantic Finance in Paris from May 1986 to May 1987 and subsequently was head of equity research at Group Delphi in Paris. He received a BS in International Business Administration and Economics from Uppsala University (Sweden) and an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School. He is a founding Board Member and the current Chairman of The New Leader’s Group of the Institute of International Education, the administrator of the US Government’s Fulbright Program. He is also a Trustee of Friends of ARK (Absolute Return for Kids). Tom was born and raised in Sweden and resides in New York City.

Rick Ecklord
Senior Managing Director & Partner

Rick Ecklord joined Sandell Asset Management Corp. in 2001. Mr. Ecklord is a Senior Managing Director and Partner, with primary responsibility for trading and technology. From 2000 to 2001, Mr. Ecklord worked for Spear, Leeds & Kellogg / Goldman Sachs, Inc. as a trader. He worked for Renata Trading LLC, as an options trader in 2000. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Ecklord worked for Sakura Dellshar, Inc. as a trader. He worked for McNamara Trading Inc., as a trader in 1996 to 1998 and with AIG Trading Group as an assistant trader in 1996. Mr. Ecklord graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in 1995.

Felix Lo
Managing Director & Partner

Felix Lo re-joined the investment team at Sandell Asset Management Corp. in 2013. Mr. Lo is a Managing Director and Partner with a primary focus on merger arbitrage and international equity special situations. Mr. Lo previously worked at Sandell as an Analyst from 2006 to 2009, before co-founding Granite Fund Advisors in 2010, a Hong Kong based long /short equity hedge fund, where he was responsible for the global event driven strategy. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Lo worked as an Analyst at Evercore Partners. Mr. Lo graduated magna cum laude in 2004 with a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School, and a B.S.E in Computer Science Engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
